UNIFORM OF THE DAY: DRESS BLUES Service Dress Blues (cadets) or Winter Blues (leaguers). Make sure that your uniform and grooming is perfect (get a haircut).
If you do not have Dress Blues yet you can wear your GOLD PT shirt and nice jeans and tennis shoes.
All hands should be at our drill location, Saturday, 06 OCT 18, California National Guard Armory, Roseville Parking lot by 7:30 am - bus leaves promptly at 8 am!
Cost for bus trip is $15 per cadet or leaguer, and $20 per adult or sibling (siblings without parental escort are not allowed). CASH ONLY WILL BE TAKEN, BEFORE WE BOARD THE BUSES. We will be getting 2 buses.
The march is about a mile long, to Marina Green. It is a lot of walking and the Cadets and Leaguers marching, go at a pretty decent pace. So, if you have any health problems, please make sure that you will be able to handle a lot of walking, and Cardiac Hill, that is a pretty steep march, that might not be for everyone. You might want to drive and park at Marina Green instead. We cannot wait up for the adults and guests, who will be coming with us because we have to be there at a certain time before the air show starts. The buses will not do 2 drop-offs, once we are there. So, we can't have them drop them off at Marina Green.
We will be posting 2 different sign-up sheets. One for Cadets and Leaguers and the other will be for parents (or family member) and siblings. We will first fill up the Cadet and Leaguer sign up sheet first, for spaces on the buses.
Last day to sign up, will be 30 SEP 18. Then we will go to the list of the parents and siblings. First ones who sign up, will be first, to be placed on the list for the buses (parents and siblings). Please make sure to indicate how many will be coming with you (please do not exceed more than 2 or 3 per family).
DO NOT SHOW UP WITH MORE THAN YOU INDICATE ON THE SIGN-UP SHEET. They will be turned away, even if we have room!!!
You can bring snacks and a drink that will have to be left on the bus. No bags, chairs, or other items hanging from your uniform, while in formation.
Bring money as it is a "fair" type environment and things cost more. There is a map attached that shows our route from drop off to Marina Green. Parents/cadets traveling separately can park near Pier 37 and join us when buses arrive or they can try and find parking at Marina Green, where we set up at. Parents (and others, besides officers, Cadets, and Leaguers) normally follow behind unit as it marches.
We are asking for donations for flats of water and granola bars. No perishables, as these will be stored below the buses, for the ride home. We are also asking for some help, from those who decide to drive down and meet us at Marina Green, to possibly take chairs and the new Awning for the Unit, with them and then to meet us back at the Armory, to give all the chairs back to those who brought them, when we go home.
Please meet us at the Armory before the buses leave to go to SF and then you are welcome to go on your own. Then if possible, to find a spot for us and set up. Please let me know if you can do this. It would be greatly appreciated since the bus drivers usually won't do a second stop for us. The unit SHOULD arrive about 10:00 am, to Pier 39 (traffic) and immediately push off to our first stop - Ghirardelli Square (for a break and shopping).
This promises to be a GREAT day with the U.S. Navy! Remember, this show will have the best airshow around-THE BLUE ANGELS, and many ships!! Hope to see you ALL there!
