NLCC - LEAGUE cadets

Winter Dress Blues

 

This is the dress uniform that is worn October-March needs to be complete/perfect for our Annual Inspection and other formal events. Males and females wear the SAME uniform. 

* All patches need to be sewn.  Never glue or use press patches on them.

 

Rank Patches are to be transferred from your Whites to your Blues. 

 

This uniform consists of:

 

1. An all black long-sleeved shirt. - IF AVAILABLE the unit will provide. If we do not have your leaguers size you will have to purchase it. Your registration fees DO NOT cover uniform costs.

 

 

  2. A pair of black pants - IF AVAILABLE the unit will provide. If we do not have your leaguers size you will have to purchase it. Your registration fees DO NOT cover uniform costs. 

 

  • If your Leaguer wears anything smaller than a men's size 32 waist, you will most likely need to purchase the pants yourself. (Smaller sizes are not available unless someone who has outgrown a purchased pair decides to donate them to the Unit). They are easily found inexpensive school uniform type pants. You are looking for the flat front type (not pleated) with side seam pockets (no cargo pockets)

 

 

 

 

3. A black web belt with silver buckle – if available the unit will provide.

 

4. A white undershirt – you provide.

 

5. Black dress shoes – you provide (See example below).

 

6. Cover: White Dixie Cup cover ("sailor hat") – the unit provides.

 

 

 

MALE & FEMALE UNIFORM STANDARDS

  • Nameplate goes on the right.

  • Ribbons go on the left. 

  • White shirt under the black blouse.

  • Wear the buckle so that the belt clip end touches the LEFT side of the buckle. Align the right side of the buckle with the opening of the shirt and opening of the fly, forming a straight gig line.

  • There should be no other patches found on the blouse other than the cadet rank patch and Sea Cadet flashes.

Front

  • The nameplate is worn centered on the right chest of the blouse. The bottom of the nameplate is level with ribbon bar and parallel to the deck. 

  • Earned rank patches are sewn on the right sleeve centered on the sleeve. (See diagram below)

Right

  • Ribbon Rack is worn centered on the left chest of the blouse. The bottom of the ribbons are level to the nameplate and parallel to the deck.  

  • Navy League flashes/patches should be sewn on left upper arm/shoulder ONLY! 1 inch below shoulder seam (See diagram below).

Plain Toe Oxford

  1. This shoe is worn with winter and summer dress uniforms.

  2. There are no seams or creases in the toe of the shoe.

  3. You MUST be able to polish this shoe, no coraframs!

Pressing Your

DRESS BLUES:

 

Shirt

 

  • ​​Front should have two creases pressed outward from the pocket all the way to the tail

  • Back should be pressed with three seems outward all the way down to the tail

  • All patches need to be sewn.  Never glue or use press patches on them. 

  • Rank goes on the right sleeve, centered on the sleeve. 

  • Name Tag goes on the right chest, the bottom of the name tag and the bottom or the ribbons are level with each other and level to the deck. The name tag is centered on the shirt between the buttons and the inner seam of the right sleeve.   GET YOUR NAME AND YOUR RANK RIGHT! 

  • NLCC patch goes on the left sleeve, one inch down from the shoulder seam.

  • Ribbons go on the left chest. The bottom of the ribbon rack is level with the deck and centered on the shirt between the buttons and the inside seam of the left sleeve. 

 

Trousers

 

  • Pressed with creases outward like regular trousers.

  • A Note on Pant Length: Pants shall be hemmed in a manner such that the front of the pant leg just touches the second lace hole from the toe of the dress shoe. The back pant leg should rest just above the beginning of the rubber sole.
